It has been hard thinking of things to do while being quarantined. But, somehow, I've managed to paint, go on a bikeride, go on a walk, chalk, clean, reorganize, do crazy hair and makeup styles, play with my dog, watch Youtube and the Cosby Show :), write letters to people, email/call my friends, bake cookies, had a family movie night, sketch, read books, done school work, weeded my gardens, mowed the lawn, played outside, played volleyball, eaten out at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, etc. This whole epidemic hasn't fully sunken in. I don't know why. I see what's happening, (empty store shelves, the news, etc.) I'm having to suffer along with everybody else because of this virus. But, it still hasn't sunken in. In this blog, I'll be giving you some advice on how to grip this situation and ideas of what to do while being quarantined (even though I've given you quite a few.)
I think it is important that we stay hopeful and focus on the good rather than the bad. Yes that sounds cheesy and at times impossible but, we should at least try! Whether it means writing down what you're grateful for or counting your blessings. And you can pray for us to think of things to be grateful for if you're having trouble thinking of things. I'm grateful for family, friends, technology (I'd be going crazy without it especially because I wouldn't be able to communicate with people!), etc.
Some things we can do to stay active and to give us something to do is bake. Even if you're not the best cook you can still follow simple recipes. Even if it just means to make some cookies. That's simple, takes time and are delicious! My family and I have baked lots of things. From confetti angel cake to peanut butter bread to lemon bars. It's been fun to have a homemade treat every-once-in-a-while.
Something that's cool to me is that we're living through history. When we're older we can tell our children, our grand kids and/or our GREAT grandkids about this. It doesn't make things better but, it's a positive thing to think about instead of dwelling on how terrible and unfortunate this situation is. We're all in this together. We're all being quarantined, not being able to go to school or work or pretty much anywhere. I've had to say to myself out loud that it's not just me and that everybody's going through this too. It's kinda've comforting knowing I'm not going through this alone.
Lastly, I think it's important to be happy. It's easy to feel sad and gloomy these days. It seems like every day, I don't feel productive or excited because there's nothing to look forward to. But, that's not the right mind set at all. I made a list of ways I can be happy and joyful. The picture below is a good example of what you can do/put on your list.
I hope this helped give you some ideas for what you can do when you're feeling bored or unhappy! :D
oh my goodness this is SO good! thanks so much for the great ideas!
